At Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, compassion isn’t limited to our clinical teams.
It’s
strengthened every day by community volunteers who generously give their time, talents, and care to support patients and families during life’s most tender moments. We’re deeply grateful to the many corporate, civic, professional, and religious and community groups who choose to serve alongside us.

Whether serving on-site at one of our locations or on their home turf, volunteer groups find meaningful ways to support patients and families. Corporate partners have opened their doors to host service projects for their teams, allowing employees to assemble Kid Activity Bags and Memorial Hearts at their own workplaces.
A recent example includes Oracle’s State Government team, who gathered to create 200 Kid Activity Bags that help young visitors feel welcomed, comforted, and cared for during difficult visits with a loved one. These moments of service extend far beyond the project itself — they ripple outward to the children and families who receive them.
Jennifer Sapp, Volunteer Coordinator at NorthCare Hospice House, witnessed that impact firsthand. “I shared several of the bags with a large family who had multiple children of different ages,” she describes. “The squeals of excitement when they opened the bags echoed through our family room. It’s always a joy to see the experience unfold for children and families. This family spent a lot of time in our gathering areas, and the extra activities truly made a difference for them.”
Other volunteer groups support families through the gift of nourishment and hospitality. The Grant Professionals Association Heart of America Chapter recently provided a delicious dinner for families at Kansas City Hospice House™, sharing a generous spread from Chipotle.

For families spending long days and nights at the bedside, a warm, shared meal offers not only sustenance, but also a sense of being seen and supported.
The collective impact of these efforts is remarkable. Together, they form a powerful network of care supporting patients and families when it matters most.
To every group that has chosen Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care as the place to share your generosity: thank you. Your service brings comfort, joy, and dignity to those we serve, and it reflects the very best of our community.
