Catch of the Day
Recently, some of the youngest patients of Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care — from our Carousel Pediatric Care program — spent time with their families at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium. There at the Sobela Ocean Aquarium they took in nearly 8,000 animals in 34 habitats.
The most rare specimen spotted that June day, though, was Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie, host of the event via his organization, the T22 McDuffie Foundation.
This VIP, private family event at the aquarium gave families an opportunity to enjoy time together, as a family, outside the confines of a hospital bed or daily medical routine while Trent and his foundation team mingled among them. McDuffie said, “Caring for a terminally ill child is a heartbreaking journey no family should have to walk alone. We wanted to create a day full of love, laughter and connection — a moment for those families to breathe and just be together.”
