Help Ensure Your Wishes Come True
By Bill Riek, Associate Director of Gift Planning

August marks Make-A-Will Month, an important reminder of the influence and love we can extend beyond our lifetimes through thoughtful planning. Did you know Make-A-Will Month was established to encourage individuals to think about their legacy and ensure their wishes are documented? It highlights the importance of taking proactive steps to care for our loved ones and the causes we hold dear, long after we’re gone.

Across the United States, a surprising number of people have yet to take this important step. Did you know that only 33% of Americans currently have a will?

Creating a will might seem like a daunting task, but it’s a vital act of kindness for your family. It’s a chance to clearly state your wishes, reduce stress for your loved ones, and decide the legacy you wish to leave.

Through our partnership with FreeWill, we’re making it easier than ever for you to start this important process. You can both create a will, and you can also establish other essential documents like a power of attorney and a living will—all at no cost to you. These documents are crucial in ensuring your wishes are honored and your loved ones are cared for.

A Time to Let Your Compassion Shine

If you choose to include Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care in your will, you become part of our Full Circle Society, a compassionate community dedicated to providing peace, comfort, and dignity to those nearing the end of life. Your legacy gift could support our mission to deliver expert care, ensuring that no one in our community faces the end of life alone.

Robert and ChristyConsider the story of Robert, who turned his gratitude into lasting support. When Robert lost his wife, Christy, he spoke with us about the care and compassion they received at Kansas City Hospice House. He wanted other families to feel that same comfort during life’s hardest moments.

To honor Christy’s memory, Robert helped establish the Christy Scales Casillas Family Food Fund—providing nourishing meals and small comforts to families keeping vigil at the bedside. His initial gift, along with a planned gift through his estate, ensures that support continues for years to come.

Take the Step. Be Prepared.

Join Robert and other thoughtful individuals in securing both your family’s future and the future of vital community services. Embrace the peace of mind and fulfillment that comes with planning ahead and making a lasting impact.

Thank you for considering this meaningful step. Together, we can ensure that Kansas City Hospice continues to provide exceptional care to those who need it most.
