In Memory of Marsha Ann Greenwell
Marsha Ann Greenwell November 4, 1942 – February 14, 2025

With tremendous adoration for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Marsha Ann Greenwell, who journeyed beyond our world on February 14, 2025, at the age of 82. She was a cherished parent, grandparent, great-grand parent, aunt, devoted friend, and a guiding light in our lives.
She was born Marsha Ann Mann in Rome, Georgia, on November 4, 1942, to Leo (“Hank”) Mann and Annabelle Mann. From childhood, she was a natural caregiver and played a significant role in raising her brother, Pres, who was ten years her junior. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in psychology. While she never professionally practiced, she skillfully applied the principles she learned as a way of informally counseling those around her.
During the early 1960s, Marsha pursued a career as a TWA flight attendant. She moved to Kansas City to attend the airline’s Breech Academy and later married George Allen. When she became pregnant, she was required to resign her position—a company policy at the time. She then became a first-class mom to her children Allison (Fisher) and Brad (Allen). In 1981, she remarried, eloping with Don Greenwell Jr. on Valentine’s Day, making the holiday especially meaningful for them.
For a number of years, she was a co-founder and operator of Neighborly Visits which assisted families with aging loved ones. She befriended her clients and tended to their comfort and sought ways to make them feel active and joyful. She was like a surrogate daughter, really.
As part of an employment discrimination class-action suit against TWA in the early 1980s, she regained her flight attendant position. The group became known as “The Returning Moms.” She loved being out and about and was world-class at comforting others.
Marsha was a deeply caring and extroverted woman. She was always ready to play games and loved to laugh. With a beautiful smile for everyone, she wanted everyone to feel welcomed and included. She was always patient and always kind. Marsha approached life’s challenges, both big and small, with positivity. Her life practices are her legacy—her gift to us.
She was closely connected to The Church of the Resurrection and was active in a small faith group that met for two decades. Marsha was a dedicated volunteer for congregational support such as being a greeter at the Leawood sanctuary. The family is very grateful for the ministry staff throughout the years, including end-of-life care. Likewise, the tender care provided by the staff at Tallgrass Creek, a senior living community, and Kansas City Hospice has been amazing. So many very special caregivers have touched our hearts.
Marsha is survived by her daughter Allison Fisher (Tim); son Brad Allen (Jessica); step-daughter Mary Faris (Tom); step-son Don Greenwell III (Tony); grandchildren Chip (Jamie), Krystal (Alex), Andrew (Kate), Kara, Annie (Ryan), Lindsey (JR), Mitch, Max, and Isabel; and great-grandchildren Audrey, Penn, Lyra, Lochlan, Zia, and Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents Hank and Belle Mann, brother Pres Mann, and husband Don Greenwell Jr.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wesley Chapel at the campus of The Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Blvd., Leawood, KS. We will gather to reflect on a life well lived and share laughter.
