It’s that time of year again… the leaves are changing, cooler winds are blowing in from the north and open enrollment for next year’s benefits are starting for business across Kansas City! If you are like me, I’m looking closely at what insurance is right for me and my family. This includes both health insurance and life insurance.
Does your employer offer a life insurance policy at no cost to you? Mine does and I am so grateful for it. This policy is so generous and really more than my family needs. So, I do what many other people do, I give a portion of it to my favorite nonprofit. All you have to do is name the 501(c)3 charity as one of the beneficiaries (or the only one) on your policy. In most cases, this can be done online as part of the enrollment process!
Of course, my favorite charity is Kansas City Hospice Foundation (KCH, EIN# 43-1724085), that’s why I came to work here! I love that I’m able to make a gift that will bring peace of mind to families as we walk with them during life-limiting illness, the end-of-life journey and through the grief and healing process. And the best part is, it doesn’t cost me anything! I still get to be part of KCH’s prestigious Full Circle Society, just by letting them know I made this gift intention.
The Full Circle Society honors everyone who informs KCH that they have made an estate gift intention, whether that be a gift in a will, trust or the beneficiary of an IRA or insurance policy. We honor these amazing people by listing their name at the Kansas City Hospice House (unless they choose to remain anonymous) and by inviting them to special events throughout the year.
Whether you choose to make a gift to Kansas City Hospice Foundation or another charitable organization, please let them know. Our favorite thing to do is say thank you and make sure that your gift is designated in a way that is meaningful to you!
