November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month

20220819 Design Ranch Hospice Day 4

This year’s theme: “We See the Whole You.”

At Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, we see beyond a diagnosis to the uniqueness of each patient, their family and friends. Hospice isn’t about giving up. It’s not less care — it’s the right level of care. It’s a way of caring for patients at home, or wherever they call home, including in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and inpatient hospice houses. It meets patients and families where they are.

Hospice is about helping patients live on their own terms, even at the end of their lives. By definition, hospice is care that puts comfort, dignity, and quality of life first. Giving patients and families choices and respecting their wishes is also cornerstone to a quality hospice program. By providing the right level of care, hospice enables each patient to live fully – helping them enjoy quality time with the people they love. Through an interdisciplinary model, the hospice team supports the whole person, as well as their  family members, during one of life’s most challenging yet meaningful seasons.

At Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, we’re expanding our outreach through palliative care consults in hospitals, Community–Based Palliative Care, and soon through clinics affiliated with area hospitals. We’re also dedicated to training fellows every year, growing the next generation of providers.

Even with growing awareness, many families still tell us, “I wish we’d known about hospice sooner.” This November, we invite you to help spread the word. Learn more about hospice and palliative care, share our social media posts, and join the conversation using
#WeSeeTheWholeYou | #HospiceMonth | #ThisIsHospice | #PalliativeCare

Together, we can ensure everyone in Kansas City has access to expert, compassionate care when it’s needed most.
