I’m thrilled to break the news that Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care was just named a 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Award recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst. If you’re not familiar, they’re a leading provider of CAHPS and bereavement survey programs for home health and hospice agencies.

This award means a lot to us because it’s about QUALITY. The QUALITY of care we deliver to the patients and families we take care of every day. This prestigious annual review recognizes agencies that continuously go above and beyond in providing high-quality care for patients and compassionate caregiver experiences. And to be honest, this is the second time Kansas City Hospice has received this award!

I really give credit to our team members all across the agency, throughout the Kansas City-area for the win.

It’s pretty simple. OUR team members are invested in the quality of care our patients and family members receive. We don’t pay dividends, instead we pay attention to the care we deliver. It’s really the nonprofit difference. It sets Kansas City Hospice apart. I’m so proud of this team of caregivers!

You can see on their website all of the criteria a hospice agency like ours is measured by to be considered for this award. It’s tough. To be considered, we had to have scored above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on the Hospice CAHPS Willingness to Recommend question. If that criteria is met, performance is evaluated utilizing a set of 23 additional quality indicator measures. These scores are then compared on a question-by-question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in HEALTHCARE first’s Hospice CAHPS database.

They scrutinized everything. And yet – our outstanding care shines through.

Here’s what they have to say: “We began our Annual Hospice Honors Award program more than ten years ago as a way to highlight those agencies that are truly leading the way in providing and demonstrating quality patient care,” said Jeremy Crow, Head of RCM and CAHPS Survey, Home Health and Hospice. “We congratulate Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care on this recognition and are so proud and honored that they have chosen to partner with us in helping drive success for their agency.”

We’re thankful for the recognition. We’re grateful to our teams for the outstanding care they provide day after day. And we thank you, Kansas City, for the opportunity to provide expert care for your families.
